Our new department focused on microbial sciences at Cleveland Clinic is seeking faculty candidates at all levels to build upon recent growth in microbiology. We invite applications from investigators whose research focuses on antimicrobial resistance in areas that include, but are not limited to, preventing antimicrobial resistant infections, developing novel antibiotics/biologics to overcome resistance, and/or enhancing immune response to antimicrobial resistant pathogens. Meritorious candidates will join a cohesive team of 22 investigators whose research focuses on microbiome, nutrition, bacterial pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, chronic viral infections, and emerging viruses. The Department recently relocated to a brand new, cutting edge research building and biocontainment facility, with two, new state-of-the-art BSL3/ABSL3 facilities totaling ~7,000 sq ft due to open in the Spring of 2027. Successful candidates will hold a primary appointment in the new Microbial Sciences Department and benefit from extensive collaborative opportunities across Cleveland Clinic’s clinical institutes, including the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory, which provides advanced infectious disease diagnostics. Meritorious candidates will also hold academic appointments within the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent). Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience, and appointments will include both competitive start-up funds and salaries. Onboarding will require completion of background checks prior to hiring, in accordance with Cleveland Clinic policies.

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking various factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and board certification.
