The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Tilman J. FertittaFamily College of Medicine at the University of Houston invitesapplications for a non-tenure track, open rank, Clinical Facultyposition in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. We arerecruiting new faculty who have achieved excellence in education,teaching, and research and are prepared to contribute to our boldvision.

Responsibilities:

Medical Education

  • Serve as a facilitator in the pre-clerkship physicians, patients,and population course.
  • Serve as a small group facilitator for pre-clerkship coursesduring Phase 1 of our curriculum.
  • Contribute to the Integrated Clinical Cases within the BasicScience phase of the pre-clerkship curriculum and contribute toother courses, as needed, for reproductive-related healthtopics.
  • In collaboration with the Ob/Gyn clerkship director, design anddeliver educational Ob/Gyn clinical content for the academic halfday of the longitudinal integrated clerkship.
  • Serve as the lead for career advising for medical studentspursuing an Ob/gyn residency.

Clinical Services

  • Evaluate and treat patients with ambulatory obstetrical conditionssuch as normal intrauterine pregnancy and gestational diabetes atthe UH Family Care Center.
  • Provide contraceptive counseling and insertion of long-actingreversible contraceptive devices.
  • Manage ambulatory gynecological conditions such as abnormaluterine bleeding and abnormal pap smears.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives at the UH FamilyCare Center.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical degree from an accredited allopathic or osteopathiccollege of medicine.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Obstetrics &Gynecology.
  • Medical Licensure or the ability to obtain licensure in the Stateof Texas
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to workeffectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning, includingactive and applied learning modalities.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to informdecision-making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of experience providing clinical care in the field ofObstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Experience, interest, and demonstrated abilities teaching medicalstudents.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards for medical education(e.g., LCME, ACGME).

Applicants must have an MD from an accredited institution,dependent on the position, from an accredited institution. Officialtranscripts are required for faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidate(s). Physicianapplicants must possess an unrestricted Texas Medical License andboard certification in their specialty. While exceptions may beconsidered, approval must be obtained from the Vice Dean ofEducation and/or the Dean of the College of Medicine and the Officeof the Provost. All positions within the University of HoustonSystem are security sensitive and will require a criminal historycheck. Physician applicants are required to provide documentationof current licensure and board certification as part of theirapplication materials.
