Lead Complex Hydro Generator Installations from the Front Line
We are seeking an experienced Hydro Site Manager to lead generator assembly and mechanical installation activities on a major hydroelectric project in Virginia . This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who understands large hydro generator systems , site execution, safety, and quality—not a desk‑only position .
If you’ve led generator installation teams, managed supervisors on‑site, and taken ownership from planning through handover, this is a strong long‑term opportunity.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Operational Leadership
- Lead end‑to‑end generator assembly and auxiliary installation activities
- Develop detailed activity planning, sequencing, and resource loading
- Own site execution , progress tracking, punch lists, and handover readiness
- Prepare and review project‑specific erection procedures
- Lead one critical generator assembly directly on large hydro projects
- Manage risk assessments , action plans, and NCRs through closure
- Ensure all tools, precision instruments, and calibration certificates are valid
- Coordinate site testing, documentation, reporting, and field service reports
- Maintain strict adherence to EHS, quality, and contractual requirements
People & Site Management
- Lead and coordinate a team of supervisors and site personnel
- Ensure proper staffing, punctuality, discipline, and performance
- Provide on‑the‑job training and mentorship to supervisors
- Maintain strong working relationships with the client and subcontractors
- Represent the site team with home office and internal stakeholders
Quality, Safety & Performance
- Enforce EHS standards and stop work if safety or quality is compromised
- Plan and conduct audits, track action plans, and ensure closure
- Monitor materials, preservation, shortages, and site logistics
- Ensure on‑time delivery, quality workmanship, and client satisfaction
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of hydroelectric generator experience (supervisory or site leadership)
- 5+ years hands‑on mechanical installation experience (shaft lines, turbines, generators, windings)
- Degree in Engineering or Construction Management (preferred)
- Strong experience with:
- Precision mechanical measurements & tools
- Heavy industrial / hydro equipment
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
- Comfortable working in field‑based, physically demanding environments
- Mechanical precision tools & measurements
- Reading drawings, manuals, and technical specifications
- Physical work including climbing, lifting (up to 35 lbs), and uneven terrain
- Sick Pay: 1 hour per 40 hours worked (≈ 6.5 days/year)
