Candidates with experience in Snowflake and Databricks should be successful in this role.2+ years of Child Welfare Services, Juvenile Justice, Juvenile Services, or other related experienceSQL Assistant/Teradata Studio experience, BI applicationsInterview Process:Candidates submitted must be willing to come onsite (Lansing, MI) for interviews.A screenshot photo of the candidate will be required for any interviewsA vendor representative must be present at the beginning of any MS Teams interview to validate the candidateWork Arrangement:Accepting local candidates within 2 hours of Lansing, MI ONLYPosition will be hybrid, in office 2 days a week upon startThere is NO REMOTE-ONLY optionPosition Details: This position functions as a senior information technology analyst responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing a variety of automated data warehouse applications located on the State of Michigan’s Teradata Data Warehouse platform. The position will represent the team and coordinate team activities with other data warehouse teams on complex, multi-team projects.

In addition, the position will work with other data warehouse developers to review existing data warehouse policies and practices, modify them as needed, or propose new policies or practices.This position is part of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Data Warehouse Team. Knowledge of SQL, Business Intelligence tools, and experience with relational databases is required to help develop and maintain DHHS data warehouse ETL processes and queries.Candidates Will Be Evaluated on the Following CriteriaRequired Skills:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical study6+ years creating Data Warehouse BI applications, including ETL/data mart development, reporting, dashboards, and other information analysis and delivery systems2+ years of Child Welfare Services, Juvenile Justice, Juvenile Services, or other related experienceAdditional Skills:Experience with the State of Michigan PMM/SUITE/Agile methodologySQL Assistant/Teradata Studio experience, BI applicationsEnd-user training experienceMust be able to work independently with little directionAbility to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with programmers, analysts, immediate supervisors, management, system users, operations, other State agencies, and the private sectorAbility to meet with users for clarification and elaboration as necessary to clearly define a problem and conceptualize a development planAbility to recognize, gather, correlate, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, devise solutions and alternatives, and make appropriate recommendationsExperience working with data modelers and developers, facilitating modification of the logical design to create a physical design most suited to the reporting needs of the customerAbility to design applications considering data reconciliation (to the source system), query/reporting performance, and analytical business valueWith the Business Analyst, present the information gathered to the Project Review Board and/or Project Sponsors during project review meetings, project workgroups, and to the Technical Review Board, providing clarification and answers to questionsConsult with agency clients to explain complex IT processes and solutions, developing and maintaining an effective communication plan with DTMB and agency clients relating to project-level metrics, bureau-level project reporting, etc.Assist the Architect or DBA to draft technical database models that:Comply with audit separation of duty requirementsCapture requirements of data elementsDesign data elements to best meet application needsReview and approve updates to systems documentationGather, review, and analyze potential impacts of changes and inform DTMB management and supported client agencies of impacts and risks to existing IT solutions due to proposed legislation, enhancement requests, changes in government requests, or changes in governmental processes or proceduresProvide professional technical expertise to the DTMB AS PMO Managers and client agency managers and supervisors in IT project estimating and budgetingServe as a team lead and resource, directing code development and providing advice and guidance to other development staffEvaluate and identify opportunities for programming process or tools standardizationPerform disaster recovery planning and implementationProvide input to procedures and ensure proper change management for all requested fixes to production systemsReview and approve test plans
