One-Year Appointment – Clinical Assistant Professor/School of Nursing

Scope of job: This position seeks a dedicated faculty member to teach at the School of Nursing beginning in the academic year. Duties will include teaching classroom and laboratory courses, teaching clinical settings, advising students, and engaging in professional achievement and service. UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarly work, student success, and advancing program missions.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate nursing courses in classrooms, simulations, and clinical settings.
• Advise nursing students.
• Engage in scholarly activity, including research, scholarship, and professional service.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master of Science in Nursing degree.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in Texas.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a clinical practice setting.
• Teaching experience at baccalaureate and/or graduate level.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness and educational leadership.
• Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
• Evidence of scholarly work, conference presentations, publications, grant proposals, and external funding.

Additional Information

Texas law requires English proficiency for non‑English primary language faculty, demonstrated by a satisfactory TOEFL (500 paper‑based, 173 computer‑based, 61 internet‑based) or IELTS (6.0) score.
