Ohio Licensed Medical Coder

To support the coding operations of a healthcare facility, the full-time Ohio Licensed Medical Coder will perform facility coding and abstracting for outpatient cases, ensuring accurate assignment of diagnoses and procedures while maintaining productivity and quality standards in a remote work environment. Key responsibilities: Assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT-4 codes by reviewing medical documentation and ensuring compliance with coding guidelines Manage insufficient or conflicting documentation by following department policies for physician queries and transaction coding Abstract necessary data elements to complete UB04 forms and verify demographic information for accuracy Required qualifications: High School diploma or GED Completion of a 2-year program and coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC Demonstrated knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT-4 classification systems Eligibility to sit for certification exam within 6 months of hire or completion of the coding program Knowledge of ambulatory reimbursement schemes and CMS guidelines
