Office AideUnder general supervision, provides clerical and clinic support for building secretary and the School Principal.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent, andA minimum of two (2) years office experience, orAn equivalent combination of education, training and experienceFirst Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification*May be acquired after hire.Knowledge of Board of Education policies and procedures, administrative procedures, office practices and procedures, word processing software, database software, correct use of grammar, punctuation and spelling, universal precautions, first aid procedures, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Skills and abilities to communicate effectively in person and on the telephone, interact and respond appropriately to students, staff and parents, maintain confidentiality, classify and organize records, and keyboard.Illustrative duties include:30% Administrative Support: Assist the building secretary in supporting the administrative functions.30% Clerical: Answers the telephone, responds to questions, directs calls and takes messages. Greets visitors and directs them to the proper location. Assists in opening and processes mail. Assists in processing school mailings. Assists in performing computer data entry assignments. Assists in preparing correspondence and reports. Assists in maintaining files and records. Assists in the preparing and filing of purchase orders. Compiles information, upon request. Photocopies materials.30% Clinic Support: Follows the plan established for the management of illnesses and injuries. Administers first aid, as required when the School Nurse is not present. Notifies parents of students too ill to remain in school or who have been injured. Dispenses medication according to established procedure. Informs his/her supervisor when serious emergencies, problems or implications of serious emergency occur. Reports signs and symptoms of illness to the School Nurse. Maintains record of students who need follow-up action. Assists with the health screening program for scoliosis, head lice, etc. Assists with checking emergency procedure cards. Checks health records against roster and checks available sources for old health cards. Assists with inventory and ordering of supplies. Keeps supplies easily available for use. Establishes and maintains a high state of neatness and cleanliness in the clinic.10% Miscellaneous: Performs additional duties and assignments, as requested.
