Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Location: 4780 Capitol Blvd SE, Unit 2, Tumwater, WA 98501 (In-Person)

Position Type: Part-Time or Full-Time 

Compensation: $28-$40 per hour

Reports To: Samantha Trout, Owner / Lead OT

Hours 5- 40/hrs a week



In this role, you will collaborate with the occupational therapist to provide treatment to pediatric and young adult clients.

Key Responsibilities & Clinical Duties

  • Clinical Service Delivery: Provide pediatric occupational therapy intervention in a small clinic environment. Address participation in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), and all life and family contexts. Service delivery can also include family coaching or coordinating with other providers. Typical areas of participation difficulty include toileting, dressing, grooming, self-feeding, self management, and social participation.
  • Collaboration with Occupational Therapist: Review and implement plans of care developed by the occupational therapist. Document and report in writing or verbally on client’s progress. Collaborate with occupational therapist through consistent supervision meetings.
  • Therapeutic Relationship & Environment: Establish safe, welcoming, and empowering spaces where trust, playful connection, and relationship-centered care guide every session.
  • Collaboration & Care Coordination: Coordinate care with caregivers, educators, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams when requested.
  • Caregiver Coaching & Engagement: Deliver practical home strategies and caregiver coaching to enhance functional participation in daily life.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain patient records, documentation, and appropriate billing in accordance with federal and state regulations and company policy to ensure excellent standard of care. Complete billing logs for accurate reimbursement.
  • Fulfill necessary onboarding: credentialing, licensing, and ongoing professional development requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Successful completion of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant training program.
  • Licensure: Valid Washington State Occupational Therapist Assistant license (verifiable via WA Dept of Health)
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

Required Experience: At least 1+ years experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in a clinical or school setting.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills, with a professional, positive, and cooperative approach.
  • Proven ability to build meaningful rapport with clients, parents, and team members, including parent coaching and caregiver consultation.
  • Demonstrated success working independently and applying critical thinking skills in work contexts.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to prioritize duties and accomplish clinical goals efficiently.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to/from worksite

Preferred Experience

  • Interest or experience using a neurodiversity-affirming framework to support neurodivergent clients, including Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Trauma, Developmental Delays, brain injuries, learning disabilities, and other developmental or acquired disabilities.
  • Familiarity with Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) or sensory integration concepts
  • Familiarity or experience with DIR Floortime
  • Familiarity with interoception curriculum
  • Ability to design and implement therapeutic activities that build foundational skills (motor, sensory, executive functioning, self-regulation, etc) and promote participation in Activities of Daily Living.
  • Spanish-bilingual clinicians are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Experience supporting teens and young adults with transition to adulthood
