As an Acute Care Occupational Therapist, you will collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and rehabilitation specialists to help patients maximize independence, improve safety, and achieve functional goals during hospitalization and beyond.

Position Details

  • 13-week TempForce assignment
  • Full-time schedule, 40 hours per week
  • Five 8-hour day shifts
  • 30-minute meal break
  • Schedule determined by department needs
  • Weekend requirements negotiable
  • Potential extension opportunities for up to one year
  • Opportunity to transition into a permanent Vanderbilt Health position

What You'll Need

Required Qualifications

  • Tennessee Occupational Therapist license or eligibility for licensure
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum two years of Occupational Therapy experience
  • At least one year of recent Adult Acute Care experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of Adult Acute Care experience in a Level I Trauma Center
  • Experience treating medically complex, surgical, ICU, transplant, and progressive care patient populations
  • Experience with discharge planning, ADL retraining, cognitive assessment, and functional mobility interventions

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate and treat adult acute care patients across a variety of medical and surgical service lines
  • Develop individualized treatment plans focused on functional independence and safe discharge
  • Provide ADL retraining, cognitive assessment, upper extremity intervention, and patient/family education
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams regarding equipment recommendations and discharge planning
  • Document clinical findings and treatment recommendations in the electronic medical record

Therapists are expected to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting efficient patient throughput and discharge planning
