Are you a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with surgical first-assist expertise seeking a stable, full-time locum tenens contract in northern New Jersey? A major 554-bed acute-care medical center in Union County is seeking six full-time Advanced Practice Providers to support its high-volume Obstetrical Services department. Featuring 36 to 40 hours per week, flexible 12-hour or 24-hour shift options, block scheduling potential, and zero call responsibilities, this assignment offers exceptional clinical continuity and strong lifestyle balance.

Step into a collaborative, multidisciplinary care model working alongside an onsite OB attending physician and Certified Nurse Midwife across labor units and surgical suites.

• Clinical Scope: Deliver comprehensive obstetrical floor care and surgical first-assist support, including:

  • Providing primary Labor & Delivery coverage and managing postpartum patient care

  • Managing OB/GYN emergency department consultations

  • Serving as first assist for scheduled GYN surgeries and scrubbing into acute obstetrical procedures as needed

  • Utilizing the facility's EMR system for order entry and patient documentation

• The Schedule & Shift Structure: Full-time weekly commitment (36 to 40 hours per week ; minimum of three 12-hour shifts weekly).

  • Shift Options: 12-hour and 24-hour shifts available across days, nights, and weekends.

  • Block Scheduling: Block schedules may be considered for dedicated travel providers.

  • Call Obligations: Zero call required.

• Clinical Support Model: One APP scheduled per shift, collaborating directly with an on-duty OB attending physician and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM).

Interested candidates must include verified surgical first-assist case logs and active New Jersey licensure.

• Degree & Certification: Licensed Nurse Practitioner (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA); APNs must hold a current RNFA / First Assist Certification .

• Licensure: Active, unencumbered New Jersey State License required at the time of submission.

• Clinical Experience: Proven experience in OB/GYN, Labor & Delivery, and surgical first-assisting.

• Availability: Full-time availability with flexibility to cover days, nights, and weekends.
