Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician

We are seeking an OB/GYN Laborist for an ongoing locum opportunity in Toms River, New Jersey, beginning November 2026. This position offers 24-hour in-house Labor & Delivery shifts with responsibility for deliveries, emergent OB/GYN care, and hospital consultations.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: March 7, 2027
• Approximately 17-week assignment
• Ongoing coverage
• OB/GYN Laborist
• Coverage needed 7 days per week

Schedule

• 24-hour in-house shifts
• 7:00 AM 7:00 AM
• Restricted call
• One Laborist physician onsite throughout the full 24-hour shift

Practice Setting

• Labor & Delivery
• In-house OB/GYN coverage
• Emergency Department consultations
• Inpatient consultations
• Approximately 4 10 deliveries per day
• Epic EMR
• No telehealth

Procedures

• Vaginal deliveries
• Cesarean sections
• Inductions
• Emergent obstetric procedures

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour in-house OB/GYN Laborist coverage
• Perform initial evaluations of obstetrical patients presenting to Labor & Delivery
• Respond immediately to obstetric and gynecologic emergencies
• Manage patients until their primary OB/GYN can resume care
• Assume management when a patient's primary OB/GYN is unable to be present in Labor & Delivery
• Provide Emergency Department and inpatient specialty consultations
• Assist with OB/GYN emergencies throughout the hospital
• Collaborate with employed OB/GYN physicians
• Support approved patient-management and safety protocols

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB/GYN
• Active New Jersey medical license or IMLC eligibility required
• Comfortable with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, inductions, and emergent OB procedures

Credentialing

• Full privileges required
• Credentialing committee meets on the third Monday of each month

Ideal Candidate

A Board Certified or Board Eligible OB/GYN with strong Labor & Delivery experience who is comfortable providing 24-hour in-house coverage and independently responding to obstetric and gynecologic emergencies. This opportunity is ideal for a physician seeking consistent Laborist coverage with an average of 4 10 deliveries per day and ongoing availability through March 2027.
