Obstetrician/Gynecologist

This inpatient health system facility is seeking an Obstetrics & Gynecology physician for a locum tenens assignment from January 2027 to August 2027 in North Carolina. The clinician will provide 24-hour in-house shift coverage, including nights and weekends, handling inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care. This role offers an opportunity to work within an established team of physicians and Advanced Practice Providers in a scenic mountain setting.

• Inpatient health system facility providing obstetric and gynecologic services to an adult patient population
• Supported by an established practice of 27 physicians and 9 Advanced Practice Providers
• Maintains a NICU supported by a children's hospital at a separate medical center
• Clinical operations are conducted on-site in accordance with 24-hour in-house shift coverage requirements
• Average inpatient census of 50, approximately 10 admissions per day, and 5 admissions per night
• Surgical cases average 10 per month per surgeon

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient obstetric and gynecologic coverage through 24-hour in-house shifts on an on-site basis
• Handle ED consults, GYN service, emergent gynecologic surgeries, and labor and delivery
• Perform cesarean delivery, D&C (obstetric and gynecologic), diagnostic and operative laparoscopy, and urgent or emergent gynecologic cases
• Provide call coverage shared with other OB/GYN generalists within the department and with a Certified Nurse Midwife
