Overview
The Dartmouth Health-Cheshire Medical Center General Obstetrics and Gynecology team is seeking a BC/BE OB/GYN Generalist Physician to join our collaborative practice in the Lower Valley of New Hampshire. Our faculty are committed to recruiting talented physicians who will help create a more dynamic, inclusive, and innovative team at DHC.
Our division is composed of 5 board-certified Generalists, 6 CNMs, and three clinics-based APRNs, with approximately 425 deliveries per year and 385 gynecologic surgeries annually. This full-scope OB/GYN role provides care to obstetrical and gynecology patients in outpatient settings, the Women and Children’s Health Unit (WACHU), and in the operating room.
We serve a diverse patient population and are equipped to address social determinants of health. We seek a physician with excellent clinical skills to join our strong team.
Responsibilities
- Full-scope practice including high-risk prenatal and postpartum care, GYN/Well Woman visits and preventative care, family planning and abortion services, and full-scope gynecologic visits.
- Gynecology: Busy gynecologic surgery service with opportunities for in-office and OR-based cases. Minor surgery available in-office.
- In-office urogynecology consultations; gynecologic oncology consultation available within the Dartmouth System.
- Availability of first assists for surgical cases; ability to operate with practice partners.
- Obstetrics: Works within a collaborative care midwifery model for low-risk pregnancy and collaborates for high-risk pregnancies. Responsible for care, treatment, and delivery of high-risk patients.
- Participates in risk-based antenatal evaluation and treatment; collaborates with Maternal-Fetal Medicine for optimal pregnancy care.
- Midwifery model: Midwife with patients during labor; integrated volunteer doula program for labor support.
- Robust prenatal education with a prenatal nurse handling intake and 28-week education visits.
- Performs complicated operative and surgical deliveries; manages obstetrical emergencies; provides postpartum care.
- Call: Shared call within the generalist OB/GYN group with 24-hour weekday shifts, limited call day clinics for urgent visits, and weekend coverage. First call for ER and Gynecology; second call for Obstetrics with midwives as primary call.
- Clinic: Balanced schedule allowing time for documentation; AI scribe technology available; nursing triage for daytime patient calls; in-office Behavioral Health consultation.
- Academic connection: Participation in Department Grand Rounds, CME presentations, and education/quality lectures; involvement in policy and procedure development within multidisciplinary groups.
- Teaching: Supervision and teaching of Family Medicine Residents and medical students on core OB/GYN rotations; involvement with midwifery, nurse practitioners, nursing, and other students.
- Other opportunities: Participation in performance improvement activities; engagement in system-wide quality projects; participation in hospital and medical staff committees.
