CARB OBD Certification Testing EngineerWe are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled CARB OBD Certification Testing Engineer to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for validating On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) systems and related powertrain technologies to ensure compliance with CARB (California Air Resources Board) regulations. You will execute certification testing processes, validate software releases, and conduct emissions and OBD-related analysis for light-duty gasoline, diesel, and hybrid vehicles.Key responsibilities include:Execute established processes for CARB OBD certification testing projects, including emissions and demonstration testing.Plan, conduct, and support validation testing for gasoline or diesel powertrains, including combustion, emissions control, and OBD systems.Perform software validation for current and upcoming releases intended for the U.S.
market.Conduct root cause analysis and collaborate cross-functionally to define and implement corrective actions.Coordinate and manage OBD and emissions validation projects, ensuring timely execution and delivery.Analyze test data and software changes; compile and present detailed reports for internal teams and external stakeholders, including CARB.Present findings, data summaries, and technical insights to upper management and certification authorities.Required qualifications include:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field (or 3–5 years of relevant experience).Strong knowledge of light-duty gasoline and diesel engine systems, including Bosch ECUs.Hands-on experience with CARB OBD II regulatory requirements and certification procedures.Demonstrated experience in OBD monitor development, calibration, and validation testing.Familiarity with U.S. emissions standards and regulatory environments.Proficient in tools and programming languages such as INCA, MATLAB, Python (VBA is a plus).Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills; capable of producing detailed engineering documentation.Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
