This employee answers phones and participates in planning and implementing the patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and based on the Nursing Process. This includes assisting the surgeon during operative procedures, ensures the operating suite is adequately prepared for the procedure, monitors PAR levels of supplies and equipment, and prepares surgical instruments for sterilization.What You Will DoAccurately prepares patient charts and outpatient packetsKeep other nursing personnel notified of changesEnsure supplies are available in the Nursery, PPE cabinets and daily linen preparation for staff use during ADL'sAssist with toileting and feeding patients as directed by the Registered NurseAssist the Circulator in proper positioning of the patientDemonstrate proper scrub/sterile techniquesFollows proper etiquette when answering phonesEducation QualificationsHigh School Diploma and graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program maintaining the Surgical Technologist Certification administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or its successor.
Upon completion of an accredited program for surgical technologists, graduates may practice for up to 3 months before completing certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor. Complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified for employment annually Required orHigh School Diploma and completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard or in the United States Public Health Service.
