Tool Room TechnicianSpecific skills needed: Top 3-5 mandatory and/or minimum requirements1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenanceKnowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristicsAbility to read and understand tooling drawingsTop 3-5 desirable attributes/qualifications:Good verbal and written communication skillsBasic computer skillsWillingness to learn new technologiesRequired levels/Years of Experience education – discuss whether there is flexibilityHigh school diploma or equivalent3 years of experienceGeneral function:Maintain high quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repair, and visual evaluationMajor duties and responsibilities:Read and understand tooling drawings and follow instructionsResponsible for the correct disassembly and assembly molds in a safe and timely mannerAbility to clean molds and assist Maintenance Technicians when neededWork to a schedule and meet deadlines in a timely mannerMaintain a clean and well-organized work areaUtilize measuring equipment that include micrometers, calipers, height gage, bore micrometers, etc.Assist in the monitoring process to help keep a reasonable component inventory in stockReduce machine downtimeMaintain all tools and equipment that are used including the daily cleaning of tool room machineryAssist in maintaining records on the computerized maintenance management systemWork with little or no supervision when given clear directionWork with Process Engineers to troubleshoot issues with tool or improve onAbility to work on the production floor with tool in press to correct any issue to keep down time at a minimumAbility to operate a Surface grinder with in a or -.0002 on critical detailsAbility to operate a Bridgeport/Lathe with in a or -.001 toleranceKnowledge of Manifold systems Example: Mold Master, Synventive, etc.Able to polish and bench detailsAbility to fit new detail and spot inAbility to troubleshoot issues and repairOther duties as assignedBasic qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenanceMust be a team player and educate and share ideals when neededKnowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristicsAbility to read and understand tooling drawingsGood verbal and written communication skillsBasic computer skillsWillingness to learn new technologiesAbility to handle multiple projects concurrentlyInitiative and proactive behavior in work environmentAbility to work more than 8-hours a day, weekends and holidays as neededPreferred qualifications:Tool making certificate working in die cast or plastic injection molding5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance3 to 5 years of experience using hand operated tool room equipmentSAP or other CMMS experiencePrototype Tool making experienceInjection Molding process ExperienceToolmaker/Mold Maker Journeyman certification preferredTrade School or CollegeMust either own or be able to obtain basic hand tools required to complete job responsibilitiesMindlance is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in employment on the basis of – Minority/Gender/Disability/Religion/LGBTQI/Age/Veterans
