Overview


The Radiology Technician provides services for on-site clinic health units or events to support NYCHH contracts for rapid deployments in emergency and disaster efforts. This is a temporary position and length of assignment may vary based on operational needs and client requirements. The position reports to the Site Lead at the on-site clinic health unit.


Location: New York City


Out of state licenses currently accepted.


Travel, lodging, and per diem allowances are provided in accordance with GSA guidelines.



Roles and Responsibilities



  • Provides services at the scope and level of a Radiology Technician to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.

  • Assists and guides Radiographers in performing x-ray procedures.

  • Performs routine procedures on patients whose condition requires specialized expertise.

  • Prepares radiologic area, equipment, contrast materials, and supplies as needed for patients.

  • Assists Radiologist, other physicians, and allied health care professionals in performing diagnostic or treatment procedures.

  • Performs diagnostic testing on equipment and general maintenance.

  • Prepares patients for procedures.

  • Develops film in accordance with photographic techniques.

  • Monitors patient's and equipment's condition during procedures and reports changes to appropriate health care professional.

  • Performs diagnostic imaging examinations such as X-rays, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography, and ultrasound.

  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.

  • Positions patients and adjusts equipment to set exposure factors for radiological procedures.

  • Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties and providing explanations of treatment.

  • Minimizes radiation exposure by using protective techniques and shielding and by applying knowledge of exposure factors.

  • Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols; follows drug protocols for reactions to drugs (e.g., contrast media) and utilizes emergency procedures when needed.

  • Maintains quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures and making necessary adjustments.

  • Ensures operation of radiology equipment by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordinating repairs; maintains equipment inventories.

  • Maintains radiology supplies and inventory; checks stock, anticipates needs, and processes orders.

  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations.

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.



Qualifications



  • Must have completed an approved Radiology Technician program leading to a Diploma, Certificate, or Associate's degree.

  • Two years (2) of experience as a Radiology Technician.

  • Valid license and current registration to practice as a Radiological Technologist in the state of New York and to be favorably credentialed.

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

  • Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, including MS Office products.

  • Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Location of services may be remote, austere, or challenging environments.

  • Ability to perform duties in a stressful and high-paced environment without physical limitations.

  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements, including potential shift changes based on operational needs.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • 5 years of experience as a Radiology Technician, including 1 year with ultrasound in a clinical setting.

  • 3 years of experience performing CT procedures, including contrast exams.

  • Experience in performing MRI procedures.

  • Valid license and current registration to practice as a Radiological Technologist issued by NYS DOH.



Physical Requirements



  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods.

  • May require bending, stooping, and lifting as required for patient care and transport.
