Job Summary and Qualifications
The Department Manager plans, organizes, and evaluates services delivered by the Emergency Department. This role supports the hospital's goals and builds relationships with patients, physicians, and staff. Collaborates with other management to ensure quality nursing care conforms to established standards. Maintains effective communication and develops policies to improve patient care efficiency and effectiveness.
Education
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; Advanced degree preferred.
Licensure/Certifications
- Active Licenses: Current RN License in the State of Texas or compact license.
- Basic Life Support: AHA or ARC BLS provider required upon hire.
- Advanced Life Support: AHA or ARC, ACLS, and PALS required within 6 months.
- Trauma Care: TNCC requires within 18 months of hire date.
- Specialty Certification: ENPC or CEN required within 18 months of hire date.
Experience
- Management: Five years of recent progressive management experience including staff supervision.
- Operations: Experience with budget preparation and resolving operational or patient care issues.
- Relationships: Proven track record in physician relationship management and multi-disciplinary team coordination.
- Quality & Efficiency: Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement with ability to perform duties accurately under time limits.
- Clinical Specialization: Prior Emergency Department (ED) experience is strictly required for this position.
