The Full-Time Nursing Advisor & Recruiter will join a team of professionals in the School of Nursing who are dedicated to student success. This position will provide individualized academic advising, assist students in achieving timely degree completion, and support recruitment efforts for the Nursing Program at Kentucky State University.Essential Job FunctionsServe as an academic advisor and recruiter for the School of Nursing, and engage with representatives from industry, government, and education sectors to support student career pathways and promote the program.Provide career advising to nursing students and alumni, including job search strategies, interview preparation, and resume and cover letter development.Conduct one-on-one advising sessions to guide students in course selection and the development of graduation plans aligned with academic goals.Assist students with selecting majors and understanding curriculum requirements.Provide accurate information regarding School of Nursing requirements.Support students during course registration and monitor academic progress.Address transition issues and refer students to appropriate campus resources as needed.Participate in retention-focused initiatives and programming.Represent the School of Nursing at recruitment and outreach events, such as open houses and admissions functions.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities RequiredStrong listening, communication, and critical thinking skillsExperience with retention data collection and reportingKnowledge of academic advising principles and student success strategiesFamiliarity with university enrollment services, academic policies, and proceduresEffective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with students, colleagues, and external stakeholdersAbility to build and maintain professional relationships with students from a wide range of academic and personal backgroundsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)Ability to collect, interpret, and report data related to student retentionOrganizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing prioritiesUnderstanding of university policies, federal and state education regulationsFlexibility to work occasional evening hours as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree (required)1-2 years' experience working in Higher EducationWorking ConditionsWork is typically performed in an office or similar indoor settingAbility to travel for student recruitment activitiesMinimal physical effort requiredKentucky State University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
