Nurse Practitioner Urgent Care

Position Overview

NP Urgent Care at Hutto, a busy clinic serving patients 6 months and older. Average 25-30 patients per day.

Clinic hours: Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM‑8:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday 9:00 AM‑5:00 PM. Rotating two‑week schedule.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous urgent care management, evaluating and treating acute conditions and minor injuries.
• Perform comprehensive or problem‑focused physical exams and medical histories.
• Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Prescribe medications and recommend treatments per policies.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based patient treatment plans.
• Collaborate with physicians and team members when needed.
• Counsel patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
• Maintain appropriate records and initiate referrals when needed.
• Provide consultation level services related to specialties and training.
• Perform invasive procedures within scope as delegated by supervising physicians.
• Possibly perform patient‑care duties beyond schedule based on coverage needs.

Qualifications

• Current Texas RN licensure with compact privilege (or RN from a state in the Nurse Licensure Compact).
• Current Texas APRN/Nurse Practitioner licensure.
• Certification from an accredited board as an APRN for the patient population focus.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (less than 1 year considered).
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency in computer and related software applications.
