NURSE PRACTITIONER

Compensation: Up to $160,000 annually , based on experience and qualifications

JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority will provide patient care independently without access to a physician for guidance and oversight. Responsibilities include performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, performing or directing nursing assignments, conducting lab tests, taking measurements, and developing and implementing care plans, including medication administration and case management.
Provides direct patient care as a clinician for Primary Care and other services, including STI care . Provides clinician-level services and training to LPNs and Medical Assistants under their authority. Actions performed at this level require licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner under state code.
EDUCATION
• Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with prescriptive privileges required.
EXPERIENCE
• Knowledge of primary care medicine.
• Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner in Virginia with prescriptive authority.
• Preference for experience as a Nurse Practitioner in public health or as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Accurate physical assessment skills.
• Strong oral communication skills.
• Ability to accurately maintain patient medical records and prepare reports.
• HIPAA compliance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive relationships with patients, their families, physicians, case managers, pharmacists, and others contacted in the course of work.
• Ability to maintain current medical knowledge consistent with standards of practice.
• Comfortable working with LGBT+ populations and other underserved populations .
• Strong clinical problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Client-centered advocate who is comfortable working with a diverse population.
• Demonstrated negotiation and conflict-resolution skills to effectively and professionally interact with individuals of all ages, cultures, genders, disabilities, religions, educational backgrounds, and socioeconomic statuses.
• Must be able to bill insurance in the State of Virginia
• Must complete relevant HIV, STI, HCV, prevention counseling, and prevention in primary care training within 3-6 months of hire.
