Practice Setting

NICU Level III (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)

Shift

Full-time position with long hours. Work 7 days, then have 7 days off. Each shift is 12 hours (either during the day or at night).

Responsibilities

• Working in a Level III NICU
• Handling ventilation (helping babies breathe with machines)
• Inserting breathing tubes (like ETT)
• Using non-invasive breathing support (like BiPAP/CPAP)
• Putting in chest tubes
• Performing blood transfusions (exchange transfusions)
• Placing central lines (UAC/UVC)
• Doing lumbar punctures (LPs)
• Managing blood pressure and volume issues
• Inserting central lines and arterial lines
• Conducting diagnostic or therapeutic taps (checking or treating fluid in the body)

Qualifications

• Must be Board Certified in Neonatology and have experience as a NICU Physician Assistant (PA)
• This is very important!
• Must have a valid license to practice in New York
• This is necessary!
• Should be experienced and able to work with patients independently
• This is essential!

Certification Requirements

• Board Certified
• Must have a State License in New York
