Job Summary
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider in our Hematology Hospital‑Based Clinic and Inpatient Service located in Raleigh, North Carolina (3400 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609) to work in collaboration with attending physicians (both in person and via Telehealth), collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies, and provide direct patient care services while helping coordinate a new inpatient in‑person and telehealth service for hematology consultation.
Primary hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, day shift. The Division of Hematology provides diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment for patients with a wide variety of blood disorders which are primarily non‑malignant in nature.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- In collaboration with attending physicians, the NP/PA performs triage, physical exam, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies, diagnostic procedures and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, coordinates the care of patients, and provides direct patient care services.
- Analyze clinical practice patterns to provide the best medical care and increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to the supervising attending, consulting physician, nurse staff, patient resource manager, home health agency, and other relevant healthcare providers.
- Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data including results of diagnostic tests, laboratory results, patient’s condition and response to therapies/interventions, as well as communications with physician colleagues.
- Provide inpatient consultation and follow‑up when either rounding APP is unavailable or requires additional help and be able to present the patient to the covering attending, either in person or via Telehealth.
- Assist in setting up the inpatient Telehealth technological aids when the interaction is done remotely.
Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
Nurse Practitioners: completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master’s degree in Nursing.
Physician Assistants: completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Certification
BLS required.
License
Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure & NP approval to practice in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required.
Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. BLS required.
DEA licensure with full prescriptive authority required.
Experience
1+ years of APP experience preferred.
Job Hours
Monday Through Friday, day shift. No weekends and no holidays.
