Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Outpatient Palliative - $10k Recruitment Incentive

Job Summary

Geisinger's Cancer Institute is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join their talented Palliative Medicine team at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) in Danville, PA.

Job Duties

• Assess and establish a presumptive diagnosis and implement treatment plans for the patient population.
• Make accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record; order and interpret diagnostic testing and consult as appropriate and prescribe appropriate medical therapy utilizing evidence‑based practice.
• Prescribe, adjust or discontinue medications or therapies as appropriate.
• Evaluate and report to collaborating physician any circumstances or approaches to medical management or test results that pose a significant risk to the patient’s health or well‑being.
• Perform procedures within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner license.
• Communicate with collaborating physician, patient, PCP and referring staff through telephone or other means of correspondence.
• Act as patient advocate by providing safe, ethical care and health education in a language the patient and family can understand.
• Interpret and follow policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals and deadlines.

This role will be a mix of both inpatient and outpatient care.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job‑specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.

Education

Master’s Degree – Nurse Practitioner (Required)

Master’s Degree – Physician Assistant (Required)

Experience, Certifications & Licenses

• Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body
• Certified Nurse Practitioner – American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
• Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) – RN_State of Pennsylvania
