Role Overview

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Float, supports the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare (NHC) by providing excellent patient-centered care within a dynamic team environment. This position delivers general medical care and treatment under the direction of providers and promotes team development through training opportunities.

Float coverage spans South Riverside County (Temecula, Hemet, Menifee). Work locations may vary regularly and assignments are geographically aligned within one of our four primary regions or PACE regions. In rare instances, the position may be assigned to any NHC site. Advance notice is provided whenever possible; same-day or short-notice changes may occur. The float position is eligible for supplemental compensation of $15,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Regular travel between assigned locations within the organization’s service area.
  • Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures per provider instructions and NHC practice protocols.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify patient health needs.
  • Record physical findings and formulate plans and prognoses based on patient condition.
  • Discuss cases with providers and other health professionals to create comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Submit health care plans and goals for periodic review by providers.
  • Prescribe or recommend medications and therapeutic procedures such as physical therapy or inhalations therapy.
  • Refer patients for specialized care or resources.
  • Maintain alignment with NHC mission and vision and promote organizational activities.
  • Identify training needs and support team development.
  • Perform duties in accordance with the NP Supervisory Agreement.
  • Demonstrate courteous and helpful behavior and commitment to accuracy to improve patient experience.
  • Share accountability for patient health outcomes with care teams.
  • Instill confidence in patients, employees, and stakeholders regarding our care and facilities.

Education / Experience

  • NP
    • Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.
    • California Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nursing license in good standing required.
    • Current CA DEA licensure required and to be maintained.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an AHA‑approved source required.
    • Board Certification (ANCC/AANPCB) required or board‑eligible with certification within 12 months of hire.
  • PA
    • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
    • California Physician Assistant License in good standing required.
    • Current CA DEA licensure required and to be maintained.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an AHA‑approved source required.
    • Board Certification (NCCPA) required or board‑eligible with certification within 12 months of hire.

Additional Qualifications

  • Reliable transportation and flexibility for short‑notice location changes.
  • Mileage reimbursed per organizational policy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, typing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to interpret various forms of instructions.
  • Experience providing direct patient care.
  • Strong multitasking, planning, and organizational ability.
  • Team player and independent worker.
  • Professional handling of confidential information.
  • Coverage required at multiple Riverside County clinics.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift or carry 20 lbs.
  • Stand for long periods.

Compliance (Safety & HIPAA)

  • Follow all safety procedures outlined in NHC’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan.
  • Report injuries and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain current safety knowledge.
  • Use proper body mechanics.
  • Know location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits.
  • Follow infection control and blood‑borne pathogen protocols.
  • Maintain privacy of patient, employee, and volunteer information.
  • Comply with corporate integrity and security obligations.
  • Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful behavior.

Pay Range

$124,100.00 - $191,000.00 per year, depending on experience (DOE).

While the range represents the broader classification, actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, market data, internal equity, and organizational needs. Placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full range may not be utilized.
