The Division of Hematology/Oncology is seeking an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full‑time day shift position. This role involves the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with hematologic malignancies, including those undergoing autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation. The applicant will provide continuity of care for adult hematology and bone marrow transplant patients and assist in performing procedures within the defined specialty scope of practice. Ideal candidates have prior experience in Hematology/Oncology or BMT, including knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and cellular therapies such as CAR‑T and experience managing treatment‑related complications.

Work Schedule

Full‑time, day shift. 4–10 hour shifts per week (7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.). Weekends and holidays are required. No on‑call time required.

CME Allowance

Full‑time benefited APPs receive an annual $2,000.00 CME allowance. This can be used for recertification, applicable fees, CME courses, or other continuing medical education activities that occur after a new employee’s start date.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care and treatment within an established scope of practice under the direction of a collaborating physician or a board‑certified physician.
  • Coordinate plans of care, discharge, and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet patient needs.
  • Plan and coordinate health‑care education for patients, families, and other health‑care providers.
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments; interpret and evaluate patient medical records and social data.
  • Assist physicians with procedures per collaborative agreement.
  • Coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Formulate and implement comprehensive patient care plans focused on prevention, diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment of disease, including patient and family education, prescriptions, additional laboratory and diagnostic testing, and therapies.
  2. Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and care provided.
  3. Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
  4. Maintain records and reports required by regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission; participate in performance and quality‑improvement activities.
  5. Assist in coordination of research protocols, serving as a patient advocate and liaison.
  6. Assist in orientation and/or training of new clinical personnel; conduct workshops, in‑service training, and distribute educational materials.
  7. Serve as an expert clinical resource to staff and patients in the specialty area.
  8. Provide a safe environment for patients and others.
  9. Maintain a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.
  10. Perform any other duties as assigned.
