Austin, TX | Full-Time (Part-Time Considered) | Hybrid (In-Person + Telehealth) | Cash-Pay / Membership Model
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Austin clinic. This is a full-scope, patient‑facing role with real autonomy — managing a panel of members across hormone optimization, gut health, cardiovascular wellness, and longevity — while collaborating closely with our Medical Director and a team that genuinely loves this work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive functional medicine consultations — history, lifestyle assessment, root‑cause evaluation
- Order, interpret, and clearly explain advanced specialty labs (DUTCH, GI‑MAP, Genova, NutrEval, organic acids, heavy metals, and more)
- Build and manage personalized care plans integrating conventional medicine, lifestyle interventions, nutraceuticals, and other modalities
- Collaborate with physicians, health coaches, and nutritionists for coordinated care
- Manage follow‑ups, document thoroughly in Cerbo, and educate patients in clear, empowering language
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and ongoing training; contribute occasionally to patient education content
Licensure & Experience
Required:
- Active, unrestricted NP or PA license in Texas
- Board certified (ANCC/AANP for NPs; NCCPA for PAs)
- Active DEA license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- IFM Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) — or actively enrolled in IFM’s core curriculum with a clear certification timeline
Minimum 5 years post‑licensure clinical experience with demonstrated root‑cause/panel management.
2+ years in functional, integrative, longevity, concierge, or direct primary care strongly preferred.
Cash‑pay or membership-model experience is a plus.
Core Clinical Knowledge
- Hormones & Endocrinology — BHRT for men and women; full thyroid panel (free T3/T4, reverse T3, TPO); adrenal/HPA axis and cortisol interpretation
- Gut Health — microbiome assessment, SIBO/dysbiosis/IBS/IBD management, food sensitivity and elimination protocols
- Cardiovascular & Metabolic — advanced lipids (ApoB, Lp(a), particle size), insulin resistance, cardiometabolic risk reduction
- Longevity — biological age assessment, nutrient status and supplementation, mitochondrial support
Extended areas (exposure preferred): environmental toxins/mold, autoimmune conditions, genomics/nutrigenomics, cognitive health, sleep/HRV/stress physiology.
Therapies: IV protocols, therapeutic peptides (including off‑label within scope), compound pharmacy collaboration, lifestyle medicine (nutrition, movement, breathwork).
Practice & Schedule
40 hrs/week (part‑time considered); primarily in‑person with telehealth days.
Cash‑pay/membership model — comfortable communicating value without insurance workflows.
Who You Are
Genuinely curious — reads the literature, follows the field, attends conferences by choice.
Driven to keep learning and implementing cutting‑edge therapies, diagnostics, and research.
Growth‑oriented and coachable, with strong independent clinical judgment.
A clear, plain‑language communicator who empowers patients.
Comfortable operating in a high‑growth, evolving practice.
Walks the talk — lifestyle‑forward and invested in their own health.
Bonus
IFM AFMCP + Advanced Practice Modules; BHRT, peptide (AMMG/A4M), or advanced nutrition (IFNA/AFMN) certifications.
