Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and emergency medical care for inmates, including chronic care clinics, infirmary rounds, and emergency treatment on‑site.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures for medical care, including documentation in SOAP format, adherence to formulary regimens, and utilizing available in‑house resources for treatment.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, reporting any concerns or questions to the Medical Director or Health Services Administrator.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with accepted practices for incarcerated individuals.
- Provide input into facility mandatory committees as requested.
Additional Details
Full‑time position, 4×8‑hour day shift (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) weekly. Adult Primary Care.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Experience
- Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience with corrections experience preferred.
- Patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment.
- Scheduling flexibility required to rotate hours and shifts, and to be mobilized during emergencies.
Licenses / Certifications
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment.
- Current CPR certification.
