Nurse PractitionerWorking interdependently with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, provides a broad range of nurse practitioner services following established policies and protocols.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Provides services to patients including but not limited to ambulatory care, taking health histories, risk assessment and cancer screening, performing assessments, diagnosis, and conducting health education and counseling.Assess, manage and treat acute, chronic, benign, and malignant breast conditions. Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status.Interpret breast imagery (ultrasound, mammogram, MRI) collaboratively with breast radiologist.Interpret breast pathology collaboratively with breast surgeon.Perform genetic testing based on NCCN guidelines, interpreting common testing results, and conducting counseling based on results.Develops plans of care based on patient assessment ensuring appropriate follow-up in accordance with established nurse practitioner protocols.Provides teaching and emotional support to patients and families.Refers patients for further care based on severity of illness and symptoms/response to treatments tried.Utilizes written guidelines/protocol for clinical decision making and management.Prescribes medication appropriate to breast care management.
