Per Diem Nurse Practitioner (NP)
nSouthern California Surgery Center is seeking a Per Diem Practitioner (NP) to join our team in Downtown Los Angeles. This role is ideal for a motivated, professional, and patient-focused provider with experience in cosmetic surgery aftercare, wound care, aesthetic medicine, and patient education.
nPosition Schedule
nPer Diem: 1–2 days per week
nSchedule may vary based on patient volume and provider availability
nKey Responsibilities
nPerform medical evaluations and clearances for pre-operative patients and patients receiving aesthetic injectable treatments, as appropriate within the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.
nConduct comprehensive post-operative assessments and provide medical management for patients recovering from elective cosmetic procedures.
nPerform suture removals and drain removals.
nAssist with wound care, dressing changes, and monitoring healing progress.
nPerform minor procedures, including wound closure and suturing when clinically appropriate and within the NP scope of practice.
nDiagnose and manage minor post-operative concerns and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.
nPrescribe medications, treatments, and diagnostic testing as permitted under California Nurse Practitioner regulations.
nProvide professional medical advice, patient education, and post-operative care instructions.
nIdentify signs of post-operative complications and promptly communicate any concerns directly to the surgeon who performed the procedure.
nDocument patient visits, assessments, treatments, prescriptions, and instructions accurately in the electronic medical record.
nMaintain a professional, compassionate, and supportive patient experience.
nCollaborate with surgeons, registered nurses, CNAs, medical assistants, front office staff, and recovery personnel to support efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
nQualifications
nActive and unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license required.
nCurrent Furnishing Number and DEA registration required.
nCurrent American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
nAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
nPrior experience in urgent care, primary care, emergency medicine, surgical aftercare, plastic surgery, or a similar clinical setting required.
nExperience with sutures, suture removal, drain removal, and wound care required.
nComfortable evaluating post-operative patients, identifying potential complications, and implementing appropriate treatment plans.
nBilingual English/Spanish required.
nStrong clinical assessment, communication, documentation, and patient education skills.
nProfessional, dependable, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with the surgical team.
nPositive attitude and willingness to support overall clinic operations.
nPreferred Experience
nCosmetic surgery or plastic surgery post-operative care.
nAesthetic medicine and injectable treatment experience.
nExperience performing patient evaluations and medical clearances.
nExperience recognizing and managing common post-operative concerns, including infection, delayed wound healing, seroma, hematoma, wound separation, and abnormal drainage.
nExperience prescribing medications and managing post-operative treatment plans.
