About the Opportunity
Staffosaurus is recruiting on behalf of a detox and residential substance use disorder treatment facility in the Beaufort, SC area. They're looking for a medical Nurse Practitioner to own the physical health side of patient care. This is not a psych NP role: the clinical team handles therapy and psychiatric care, and you'll be the go-to provider for keeping patients medically safe through withdrawal and recovery.
The Role
You'll manage the medical needs of adults in detox and residential care, from admission H&Ps through withdrawal management and ongoing primary care. If you want a primary care skill set put to work where it truly changes lives, this is that job.
What You'll Do
- Complete admission history and physicals and ongoing medical assessments
- Manage medically supervised withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and other substances using established protocols (CIWA, COWS)
- Prescribe and manage medications, including MAT (buprenorphine, naltrexone) and detox protocols
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions common in this population (hypertension, diabetes, liver disease, infections, wound care, hepatitis C)
- Order and interpret labs and diagnostics, and coordinate outside referrals when needed
- Recognize medical complications early and escalate or transfer to a higher level of care when appropriate
- Educate patients on health management, medications, and preventive care
- Collaborate with the medical director, nursing staff, and clinical team on integrated care
- Maintain thorough, timely documentation in the EMR
What You Bring
- Active South Carolina APRN license and national board certification as an FNP or AGNP (AGPCNP or AGACNP)
- Active DEA registration with Schedule II through V prescribing authority, or the ability to obtain it
- MSN or DNP from an accredited program
- Experience in primary care, urgent care, emergency, or hospital medicine
- Addiction medicine or detox experience preferred but not required
- Current BLS certification
- A calm, nonjudgmental approach and genuine compassion for people in recovery
Why This Role
- Competitive salary: up to $140,000 based on experience
- Meaningful work where you see patients get medically stable and start recovery
- Supportive, collaborative medical and clinical team
- A chance to build specialized expertise in addiction medicine
