Nurse Manager, Surgical Neuro ICU

Overview

We are seeking a Nurse Manager to lead an exceptional team within Springfield Memorial Hospital Nursing Division. The role involves 24-hour accountability for unit management and quality of patient care, fostering a work environment that supports effective communication, collaboration, team building, and professional nursing practice.

Salary: USD $47.65 per hour to USD $73.86 per hour.

Unit

Surgical Neuro ICU – designated by TJC as Comprehensive Stroke Center. Cares for patients who have experienced critical illness as a result of surgery, post-transplant, or neuro event requiring critical care recovery. A very busy environment with complex patients requiring ventilators, frequent drip titration, frequent neuro checks, various IV lines, surgical site and drain care, CRRT, and external ventricular drain monitoring. Charge RN serves on Code Team and Rapid Response Team.

The Nurse Manager

• Ensures Magnet Program standards and evidence-based nursing practices are embedded in daily operations.
• Promotes staff development, engagement, and clinical excellence to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
• Maintains strong physician, interdepartmental, and community relationships.
• Champions a culture of compassion, innovation, and professional growth.

Education

BSN required; Master’s degree preferred.

Licensure / Certification / Registry

• Current Illinois RN licensure required.
• Holds national specialty nursing certification in clinical area or nursing administration, or completes within 24 months of assuming role.

Experience

• At least three years experience in acute care nursing as a registered nurse with demonstrated progressive leadership/management skills.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrated working knowledge of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program model and standards.
• Demonstrated understanding of nurse-sensitive quality indicators and basic hospital/nursing regulatory requirements.
