Position Summary:
This unique role combines clinical education, workforce development, and staffing coordination to support our dedicated team of Mental Health Technicians (MHTs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and Nursing Supervisors. The Clinical Education & Staffing Coordinator (RN) serves as a member of the Nursing Leadership Team responsible for ensuring the Nursing Department maintains a competent, well-trained, and appropriately staffed workforce. The position provides leadership for clinical orientation, competency validation, mandatory education, and ongoing staff development while coordinating staffing and scheduling for Mental Health Technicians (MHTs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and Nursing Supervisors. Through collaboration with Nursing Leadership and Human Resources, the position promotes workforce readiness, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, and the delivery of safe, high-quality behavioral health care.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead orientation and onboarding programs for newly hired Mental Health Technicians (MHTs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and Nursing Supervisors.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver mandatory education and annual competency programs.
- Conduct clinical skills validation and competency assessments.
- Identify staff educational needs and provide coaching, mentoring, and remediation.
- Coordinate staffing and scheduling for the Nursing Department, including MHTs, LPNs, RNs, and Nursing Supervisors.
- Monitor staffing levels based on patient census, acuity, operational needs, and staffing guidelines.
- Coordinate PRN staffing, schedule adjustments, and staffing coverage to support safe patient care.
- Track certifications, mandatory education, and competency completion to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with Nursing Leadership and Human Resources to support workforce planning, onboarding, and employee development.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, teamwork, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement

Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience required. Experience in a behavioral health, clinical education, staff development, orientation, competency validation, staffing coordination, scheduling, or nursing leadership highly desirable.
- Age-Specific Competencies: Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric
- Licensure/Certification: Current South Carolina Registered Nurse license or compact state RN license required. CPR/CPI Certification Required – provided upon hire.
