Nuclear Med/PET Technologist

• Follow Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety
• Follow NRC, state regulatory agency, and JCAHO rules and regulations
• Explain all aspects of examinations to patients at an appropriate level of understanding
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes
• Perform hot lab responsibilities
• Clear patients of contraindications and hazards
• Position patients accurately and ensure their comfort
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with patients during examinations
• Complete examination-related forms and enter patient data into the Tech Data Entry program
• Provide and issue films when appropriate
• Forward PET-related data to the radiologist after examinations
• Refilm cases as time allows
• Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise
• Clean and resupply equipment and rooms as needed

Requirements

• Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which employed
• Must be certified in CPR
• Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB
• Minimum of one year of prior nuclear medicine experience required
• Excellent interpersonal skills required
• Proficient in starting IVs
• Able to sit and use a computer for extended periods
• Able to assist patients with mobility difficulties
• Able to push, pull, and lift at least 25 pounds
