Description

Entergy is hiring a Nuclear Engineer (Fuel & Core Design) to join the Nuclear Fuels Department at its corporate office in Jackson, Mississippi. In this role, you'll support Entergy's nuclear fleet—including Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, River Bend Station, Arkansas Nuclear One, and Waterford 3 Steam Electric Station—by working with fuel vendors to design and license nuclear fuel bundles and reactor core loading patterns for each operating cycle.

Core Design Engineers are responsible for engineering activities that provide safe, reliable, and predictable core designs while improving the efficiency and robustness of those designs. In this role, you will support Entergy's mission to provide clean, reliable, and sustainable nuclear energy through reactor core design, fuel management, and reactor physics analyses.

This is an onsite position based in Jackson, Mississippi. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

What You'll Do

  • Manage core reload projects associated with the design and licensing of fuel bundles and reactor cores.
  • Provide reactor physics and fuel criticality expertise to support the analytical and design basis of Entergy's nuclear plants.
  • Leverage operating experience and industry best practices to ensure fuel is designed and operated safely and reliably in accordance with plant design and licensing requirements, within design limits, and with sustainable, failure-free performance.

Education and Experience

What You'll Bring

Education

  • B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering is strongly preferred.

Experience

  • Engineer I: 0+ years of engineering experience.
  • Engineer II: 2+ years of engineering experience (1+ year with an M.S.).
  • Engineer III: 4+ years of engineering experience.
  • Senior Engineer: 6+ years of engineering experience (5+ years with a PE license).

For Engineer II and above, candidates should have experience in reactor engineering, safety analysis, core design, or other nuclear fuel-related fields.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Technical proficiency in nuclear fuel management.
  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.
  • Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills.
  • Proficiency with current computer business applications.
  • Experience with nuclear design software packages (e.g., CASMO/SIMULATE, SCALE, MCNP).
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, FORTRAN, Visual Basic) and shell scripting in UNIX/Linux environments.

Certificates and Licenses

  • Desired: Professional Engineer (PE) license (Nuclear discipline preferred).
