Key Responsibilities for the Nonprofit Accountant:
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Prepare financial reports, budgets, and account reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and grant reporting requirements
• Assist with audits, tax filings, and preparation of financial statements
• Support leadership with financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making
• Maintain accurate, organized financial records to support transparency and accountability
Qualifications for the Nonprofit Accountant:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred
• Working knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities
