Job Description
Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking a board-certified Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to join its expanding heart failure program. Atlantic Health Morristown’s Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, housed within the 200‑bed Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute, is a leader in cardiovascular care in New Jersey and offers a full spectrum of cardiovascular services, clinical, academic, and research opportunities, as well as the chance to help establish the vision for a heart failure program that oversees care at each Atlantic Health hospital and coordinates outpatient care through Atlantic Medical Group’s multispecialty practice.
The successful candidate will join an established multidisciplinary team and assume clinical duties in all aspects of heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and ventricular assist devices in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Experience teaching fellows, residents, and medical students and the ability to work cooperatively within a diverse environment are required. Responsibilities
- Provide direct heart failure patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Atlantic Health hospitals
- Assist with heart failure initiatives—reduction in length of stay, observed‑to‑expected mortality, 30‑day readmissions, adherence to core measures, and other publicly reported data, optimized transitions of care
- Represent the heart failure program and its activities with Atlantic Health and hospital‑level committees as needed
- Provide CCU coverage at Atlantic Health Morristown if desired
- Advance the field of heart failure at Atlantic Health
- In collaboration with the surgical director of advanced heart failure and medical director of heart failure, oversee the advanced heart failure LVAD program
- Work with the Fellowship Program Director to update and ensure compliance of the advanced heart failure curriculum with ACGME requirements
- Demonstrate transparency and integrity in interactions with physicians and staff, promoting trust in institutional and section leadership
- Foster excellent communication, teamwork, and cooperation in carrying out the clinical, educational, and scholarly mission of the Service Line
- Support advanced heart failure research program, including securing extramural funding and presenting results with oral and written (peer‑review) presentations, and supervision of fellow research as needed
- Work collaboratively with a variety of clinical and administrative professionals and members of the Atlantic Health Morristown community; possess strong clinical skills

Salary
$425,000–$525,000 base salary only; excludes any quality and/or productivity incentives.
Qualifications
- Licensed cardiologist from an accredited college or university
- Board certified in Heart Failure
- Ability to communicate clearly and supportively with patients and families regarding condition, prognosis, and available services
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices in heart failure cardiology
- Current knowledge of trends and developments in heart failure cardiology
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with professional staff
- Keeps abreast of current research and incorporates relevant findings into specific areas of clinical practice
- 3–5 years of heart failure experience preferred
