Noah Wallace Elementary School is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional
This position will work 6.5 hours per day, 180 days school year.
This position includes 3 paid personal days, 12 sick days, and 8 paid holidays.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION : The instructional paraprofessional provides a variety of instructional services and classroom support to staff and students. This includes carrying out teacher prepared lesson plans and supervising teacher-planned activities, assisting in the preparation of materials for instruction, and recording individual progress of students. Paraprofessionals work under the direction of classroom teachers / case managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college credit or its equivalent (i.e. Para Professional Assessment). Bachleor's degree preferred.
  • Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.
  • Consideration will be given to the following:
  1. ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form.
  2. various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness. Prior experience working with school age children is a plus.
SALARY: $24.90 - $29.11 per hour depending upon experience (per FPSEU contract)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supporting Instruction
  1. Tutoring/ instruction under the direction of classroom teacher
    2. Supporting students during classroom group work
  2. Modifying instructional materials
  3. Assisting students with technology
  4. Helping students maintain focus and engagement
Documentation and Data
  1. Understanding students' goals and individual needs
  2. Observing and collecting data on student progress
  3. Organizing data and writing notes / summaries
  4. Giving feedback on student work / behavior
Student Management
  1. Monitor hallways, study halls
  2. Reinforce school-wide behavioral expectations
  3. Follow student behavior plans
Clerical
  1. Scheduling activities
  2. Copying, stapling, etc.
Other
  1. Handling records and student information in a confidential manner
  2. Complete all assigned mandated training programs
  3. May be asked to provide medical or personal care / hygiene which may require lifting up to 50 pounds
  4. Performs other related duties as assigned
