CustodianThe Custodian supports the overall cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the College. This position performs various housekeeping, custodial and maintenance related tasks to ensure and maintain a clean and sanitary environment for students, staff, and the campus community.Duties & ResponsibilitiesCleaning & SanitationClean offices, classrooms, restrooms, outdoor spaces, and other areas throughout the CampusSweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, polish, and clean floors and surfacesClean and sanitize restrooms, showers, locker rooms, and related facilitiesRestock soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other suppliesEnsure cleanliness and sanitation of waste containersInventory & Waste ManagementMaintain inventory of custodial supplies, equipment, and materialsRequisition supplies and equipment as neededEmpty trash, recycling, compost, and other disposal containers across campusEnsure safe organization and disposal of waste and recyclingFacilities & OperationsMake rounds to secure buildings, lock doors and windows, and switch lights and equipmentDocument and report damage, disrepair, security concerns, and other hazards observedClean, repair, and maintain custodial and other assigned tools and equipmentAssist with maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facilities and furnishingsAssist with furniture and equipment setup for meetings, events, and special activitiesAssist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, sidewalk cleaning, and debris removalGeneral DutiesParticipate in training to improve methods, expand knowledge, and ensure safe practicesProvide support for special projects, emergency response, and workload peaksPerform other duties as assigned to support campus operations and the needs of the CollegeQualificationsRequired Experience:One year of custodial or related work experienceRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of standard custodial practices and safety proceduresAbility to use custodial tools and equipment safely and effectivelyAbility to perform basic repairs and maintenanceAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to maintain confidentiality and interact professionallyPreferred:Experience working in a school, hospital, or institutional settingAdditional InformationPhysical Requirements Everett Community College follows the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and provides the following information as a guideline for applicants:Ability to operate custodial and maintenance equipment, including vacuums, floor machines, carpet cleaners, mops, brooms, and laddersAbility to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull in the performance of cleaning, repair, and maintenance tasksAbility to stand and walk for extended periods on various surfaces, including climbing and descending stairsAbility to independently lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 poundsAbility to work with cleaning chemicals and solutions using proper safety procedures and protective equipmentAbility to inspect work for cleanliness, safety hazards, and needed repairsAbility to communicate and exchange information in person and/or electronicallyTerms of Employment:Full-time position, 40 hours per weekOvertime eligible – FLSA non-exemptPosition is subject to Everett Community College policies and proceduresRepresented by Washington Federation of State Employees UnionPerformance will be evaluated after a six (6) month probationary period and annually
