The Autonomous Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting, optimizing, and advancing autonomous haulage and mobile equipment systems within active mining operations.
This role works cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, IT, and OEM partners to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance of autonomous technologies. We are committed to a safe work environment, sending every person home safe and healthy every day and leaving a sustainable legacy for our host communities.Responsibilities:Support deployment, commissioning, and continuous improvement of autonomous haulage and mobile equipment systemsMonitor system performance, identify gaps, and implement optimization strategies to improve productivity and reliabilityTroubleshoot hardware, software, network, and integration issues in collaboration with OEMs and site teamsAnalyze operational data to drive performance improvements and enhance system utilizationSupport change management and operational readiness initiatives related to autonomous systemsDevelop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and training materialsProvide technical guidance and training to operations and maintenance teamsParticipate in incident investigations related to autonomous systems and implement corrective actionsEnsure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirementsSupport long-term automation strategy and technology roadmap initiativesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field required3–7+ years of experience in mining operations, mobile equipment systems, industrial automation, or related field preferredExperience with autonomous haulage systems (AHS) or fleet management systems strongly preferredWorking knowledge of control systems, networking, GPS, LiDAR, radar, and industrial communication protocols preferredExperience with data analysis tools and performance monitoring systems preferredStrong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills preferredDemonstrated commitment to safety and operational excellence requiredAbility to work in a dynamic, field-based mining environment requiredStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills requiredExperience supporting autonomous systems from OEMs such as Caterpillar Inc., Komatsu Ltd., or Epiroc AB preferredFamiliarity with fleet management platforms such as Cat MineStar or Komatsu FrontRunner preferredExperience working in surface or underground mining environments preferredProject management or system implementation experience preferredSite-based position within an active mining operation preferredAbility to work rotating shifts or flexible schedules as requiredAbility to occasionally travel to other sites or OEM facilities requiredWhat We Can Offer You:A comprehensive compensation package including a competitive medical, dental, and vision plan with national provider networks, a 401k retirement plan with employer contribution AND employer match, paid time off, company-sponsored medical clinics, company match share purchase program, and much more!Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.Endless opportunities to grow and learn with industry colleagues.Access to a variety of career opportunities across the organization.Nevada Gold Mines is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
