Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Respiratory Therapist, you'll play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. You'll perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings. Administers all therapy modalities to adult patients per physician orders.

Initiates, operates and monitors mechanical ventilators, and NIVV.

Performs arterial puncture, and blood gas and electrolyte analysis.

Responds to all Code Blue and Rapid Response Calls.

Adheres to established quality control protocol.

Verifies all physician orders prior to therapy.

Conducts thorough, accurate report to oncoming staff.

Enters all patient interventions and updates into Meditech.

Enters therapy charges and supplies.

Participates in all areas of departmental duties, including assistance in new employee orientation and continuing education.

Performing equipment rounds, cleaning and routine maintenance where required.

Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Uses appropriate Patient Education documentation modality.

What qualifications you will need:

EXPERIENCE

Required: Active Virginia Licensure – Respiratory Therapist.

Preferred: One-year adult critical care experience.

Strong clinical skills in mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis and oximetry.

EDUCATION

Required: High School graduate or GED.

Active Certified Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC
