Job Summary and Qualifications
The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at Chippenham Hospital provides a paid, year‑long program designed to give you hands‑on experience, helping you transition from student nurse to registered nurse. The program includes advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship, simulation, and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s); document care in the patient medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, and notify provider of any adverse reactions.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs proactively.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical condition, treatment plan, medications and follow‑up; translate complex terminology for understanding.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Other certifications may be required during employment.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse in the state.
- No previous experience required.
- Some travel may be needed for training.
