Principal Duties and Responsibilities
New Cassel’s Current Foundation Director is Retiring.Position: Foundation Director
The New Cassel Foundation, the fundraising arm of New Cassel Retirement Center, is seeking a new Director to lead its philanthropic efforts.
About New Cassel Retirement Center New Cassel Retirement Center is a mission-based, nonprofit assisted living community in Omaha with 179 apartments and a robust adult day center. Guided by the core values of respect, compassion, responsiveness, and hospitality, New Cassel is dedicated to delivering an exceptional quality of life for those it serves.
The New Cassel Foundation Director leads the fundraising efforts of the New Cassel Foundation by developing and managing a professional donor portfolio and applying a broad working knowledge of development practices, including major gifts, annual giving, corporate and foundation giving, grant and report writing, appeals, donor research, and special events. As a member of the New Cassel Retirement Center executive team, the Foundation Director advances fundraising strategies that support the organization’s capital and operational needs, directly benefiting the residents who call New Cassel Retirement Center home.
Key Accountabilities:
- 1. Develops, supports and encourages individuals or groups who contribute time, talent and/or financial support.
- 2. Enhance and further develop annual fundraising activities.
- 3. Monitors and directs follow-up on all for all gifts, donations, pledges and campaigns.
- 4. Work directly with Board of Trustees and Board Chair for success of the Foundation.
- 5. Research and submit grants applicable to New Cassel.
- 6. Develop and maintain a current and accurate donor base portfolio.
- 7. Develop and foster relationships with residents, families, friends and benefactors.
- 8. Direct special fundraising events such as annual Spirit of St. Francis Event.
- 9. Keep informed on current strategies and programs related to fund raising and development.
Requirements
- Position is in office at New Cassel at least 50% of the time, partial remote is possible.
- Strong financial and budget management skills, including the ability to develop, monitor, and report on fundraising.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, and planning, with the ability to prioritize, delegate, manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, solve problems, take initiative, and work independently.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and motivational skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, QuickBooks, Canva, and Little Greenlight or similar fundraising software.
Education and Experience
- • Bachelor’s degree required.
- • Minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit fund development, demonstrated success in donor cultivation.
- • Experience with capital campaigns, grant writing, report writing, event leadership, and managing fundraising programs.
