Schedule Details/Additional Information: Mon-Fri 8a-5:30p

Pay Range: $35.50 - $53.25

Major Responsibilities

  • Performs specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage of interventional and angiographic procedures under the direction of a physician.
  • Explains the procedure to the patient and preps the patient for the procedure.
  • Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.
  • Circulates during the procedure and maintains responsibility for patient comfort.
  • Provides supplies necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.
  • Removes catheters/sheaths and applies direct pressure or clamp as appropriate.
  • Provides necessary report information to the holding area or nursing unit as needed.
  • Records and processes hemodynamic reports, contrast media records and charges promptly and accurately.
  • Communicates equipment malfunctions to leadership or department engineer for repairs.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic Technology. Completion of an accredited Radiology Interventional Program or an ARRT/RCIS graduate from a Cardiovascular Interventional Training Program.
  • Certification / License: Registered and certified by the ARRT or RCIS required. BLS required.
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Must meet all required elements of competency checklist for level.
  • Physical Requirements: Requires standing and walking while wearing 10-15 lb lead aprons. Exposure to radiation, secretions, blood. Confined working area. Normal vision, manual dexterity and good eye‑hand coordination necessary to operate equipment. Constant concentration required during procedures.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Education: 1 year in diagnostic and 1 year in Interventional Radiology preferred.
  • Certification / License: ACLS preferred.

The function of the Interventional Radiology Technologist is to assist in the various invasive Angio, and interventional procedures performed in the Interventional Radiology Suite. Responsible for surgical scrub and circulation duties, performing total patient care during and post the procedure, while the patient is in the Interventional Radiology area.
