Neurosurgery Physician Assistant at Garnet Health.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality clinical management and total care of neurosurgical patients, including physical exams and bedside procedures.
- Perform operative duties as required and manage peri‑operative care from preadmission to ICU, step‑down, and outpatient clinic.
- Collaborate with neurology, intensivists, anesthesia, nursing, case management, and therapy teams.
- Educate staff on competencies, new procedures, and advanced practice skills.
- Implement medical aspects of care to enhance patient experience and expedite discharges.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited P.A. program.
- Minimum Experience: Three years in neurosurgery, with operating room, floor, and office experience preferred.
- Licensure & Certification: Current Physician Assistant licensure in New York State; Current BLS is preferred; Current ACLS required; Board certification required; DEA registration valid and unrestricted; Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate; Current NY Infection Control Certificate.
Physical Requirements
Must stand and walk most of the shift, move patients and equipment, lift up to 40 lbs (push up to 75 lbs), and perform occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Primarily inside the hospital; occasional outdoor work; exposure to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, sharp objects, moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extreme temperatures.
- Physical demands: Must perform full anatomical range of motion, sustained sitting, standing, and walking; must lift, carry, push, and balance with up to 40 lbs and 75 lbs objects; ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance, and reach above and below.
Compensation
Annual salary range $146,000 – $164,000. This figure does not include bonuses, incentive pay, other compensation, or benefits.
