Neurosurgery OR Support- Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Piedmont Athens Hospital

Overview

Piedmont Healthcare is recruiting an Advanced Practice Provider to join an established Neurosurgery practice at Piedmont Athens Hospital. This position is full-time, 5 days a week, including rotations with established APPs for weeknight and weekend call.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hospital rounding, consults, and patient discharges.
• Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations and record data in patient medical records in the ambulatory practice. Clinical responsibilities require thorough attention to detail.
• Evaluate and treat patients to achieve optimal patient care.
• Write progress notes; prepare patient work‑ups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
• Develop plans of care that minimize complications and successfully troubleshoot problems when they arise. Apply preventative and alternative treatment strategies for possible procedural complications.
• Complete pre‑op appointments for all surgical patients, working with the supervising physician to ensure that all required labs, clearances and testing are satisfactorily completed well before surgery.
• Manage first call on a rotating basis, typically one 3‑day weekend in 7 and 2‑4 additional weeknight call shifts per month.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1‑2 years of neurosurgical or surgical experience with a high degree of clinical judgment.
