Neurosurgeon

Hartford HealthCare’s Ayer Neuroscience Institute is seeking a neurosurgeon to join William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. The incoming provider will step into an immediate patient volume with a primary focus on spine care, supported by advanced surgical technology and a collaborative multi-specialty team. This opportunity allows the physician to play a key role in maintaining a robust, fully-autonomous neurosurgery program within a comprehensive health system.

Practice Info

• Backus Hospital is a 233-bed community hospital featuring separate Medical and Surgical ICUs, 12 operating rooms, and 24/7 trauma and neurohospitalist coverage
• Position includes two ambulatory clinic locations at the Hartford HealthCare Family Health Center in Mystic, CT and the Ayer Neuroscience Institute multi-specialty outpatient clinic in Norwich, CT
• Surgical technology features the Globus Robot for spine surgery, Stealth Navigation with O-arm, and Zeiss Kinevo Microscope
• First year expected volume of 100+ cases and 200-250 cases once established
• Partnership model between ortho-spine and neuro-spine surgeons with a shared PA service between Neurosurgery and Orthopedics

Compensation

• Base salary
• RVU bonus
• Call pay
• Allotment of capital specifically for equipment

Shift & Schedule

• Q3 call schedule supported by mid-levels
