Neurology Fellowship

Position Overview

The Neurology Service at the NC State Veterinary Hospital is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained veterinary neurologist for a 12‑month Neurology Fellowship. The focus of the fellowship will be dictated by the candidate’s interests, which may include neurosurgery, neuroimaging, electrodiagnostics, epilepsy, neurodegenerative diseases and dementia, and spinal cord injury.

Responsibilities

• Provide additional clinical and teaching support to the Neurology Service, ensuring there are two neurologists on clinical duty throughout the year.
• Split time between clinic floor and advanced training.
• 34 weeks rotating on the clinic floor.
• 16 weeks dedicated to training in the fellow’s area of interest and research.
• 2 weeks of vacation.
• Serve as one of two primary clinicians on the Neurology Service while working alongside a senior neurologist.
• Provide opportunities to initiate focus clinics in the fellow’s area of interest.
• Off‑clinic blocks dedicated to advanced training, research activities, and teaching.
• Identify a research project that can be realistically completed within the available time and with appropriate support.

Qualifications

• Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; additional hours may be required.
• Minimum requirement of a DVM or equivalent degree.
• Successful completion of an ACVIM or ECVIM‑approved Neurology residency.
• Eligibility for North Carolina veterinary licensure and/or faculty certificate under the supervision of the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine.
• No requirement for a valid NC driver’s license or commercial driver’s license.
