Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Neurologist for a 1-year fellowship in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology. This role offers extensive experience in diagnosing and managing MS, including differentiating it from mimics, and training in disease-modifying therapies, symptom management, and multidisciplinary care. Fellows will work closely with experienced physicians and advanced practice providers, gaining exposure to a diverse patient population and contributing to research and education within a leading health system.
Practice Info
- Fellows will work closely with Scott Belliston, DO, and Susan Scarberry, MD, in outpatient clinics, alongside two MS-trained physician assistants and a dedicated registered nurse.
- Additional clinical exposure includes inpatient consultations and collaboration with specialists in neuro-ophthalmology, neuroradiology, rehabilitation, urology, and Botox therapy.
- The department consists of 2 MS physicians, 11 additional neurologists, and 8 advanced practice providers with subspecialty representation.
- Sanford Health's coordinated treatment center offers specialized multidisciplinary clinics for multiple sclerosis and neurogenic bladder where fellows actively participate in care.
- The practice serves a large catchment area across multiple states, including many rural communities, providing care for over 1,300 MS patients annually, along with patients with neuromyelitis optica, MOG antibody disease, neurosarcoidosis, myasthenia gravis, and autoimmune encephalitis.
- The fellowship is led by Scott Belliston, DO, a National MS Society fellowship-trained neuroimmunologist with over a decade of experience.
Responsibilities
- Gain extensive experience in diagnosing and managing multiple sclerosis, with a strong emphasis on differentiating MS from both common and rare mimics.
- Receive training in disease-modifying therapies, symptom management, and multidisciplinary care.
- Work closely with Scott Belliston, DO, and Susan Scarberry, MD, in outpatient clinics.
- Participate in inpatient consultations and collaborate with specialists in neuro-ophthalmology, neuroradiology, rehabilitation, urology, and Botox therapy.
- Actively participate in specialized multidisciplinary clinics for multiple sclerosis and neurogenic bladder.
- Actively participate in clinical trials for emerging MS therapies and conduct independent clinical research projects.
- Contribute to resident and medical student education through teaching and didactic sessions.
- Engage in outreach efforts to improve access for rural patients.

Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Successful completion of a Neurology residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
- Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
- Applicants not board certified at the time of application but who have completed residency training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training.
