The Neurocritical Care Fellowship at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) has a vacancy for July 2027. The UCSD Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program is fully accredited by the ACGME and UCNS and is based within San Diego's only academic health system and the region's only medical center with dedicated Neurocritical Care Units (primary service). The program offers two years of training for graduates of neurology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, or anesthesiology residency programs, and one year of training for neurosurgery graduates or physicians who have completed anesthesiology critical care or pulmonary critical care fellowship training.
Fellows train across multiple high-acuity clinical sites, including two Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Centers and a Level I Trauma Center, caring for a diverse population of neurologic and neurosurgical critically ill patients. The interdisciplinary program is led by board-certified neurointensivists from Neurology and Anesthesiology and provides extensive hands-on experience in advanced neurocritical care procedures, multimodal neuromonitoring, neurovascular and neurosurgical critical care, and ICU leadership. Fellows also benefit from a flexible curriculum integrating clinical training, research, mentorship, and career development, with access to UCSD's world-renowned neuroscience and bioengineering communities .
